Within an organisation for an energy reduction strategy to be successful it requires the involvement of all members of staff, meaning that all staff have to make a commitment at the required level.

This could entail:

• Senior management making funds available for energy saving schemes

• Appointing a member of staff to become an energy champion with the responsibility of overseeing all energy saving initiatives.

• Encouraging all to be proactive, for example by turning off equipment when not required, lowering the temperature of a room or closing a window

As a result energy consumption could be reduced by up to 30% and in some cases even more, with the added bonus of lowering maintenance costs and extending equipment life cycle.
