As part of a £1.8m investment, one of the UK’s leading food processors engaged with Space to design, supply and install refrigeration equipment for a new freezer store.
The investment forms part of our clients ongoing strategy to maximise operational capacity and further strengthen the sustainability of its site as it continues its progress towards net zero.
The new store is serviced by a new CO2 refrigeration system. Our design evaporating temperature is -24°C for a room temperature of -18°C. The product load of 3000kg/24hrs entering at 0°C (frozen), and being cooled below freezing point. We based our plant and equipment selections on a 35°C maximum ambient temperature.
We have calculated a cooling load of 12 kW for this room and selected the plant package with an evaporator capacity of 14.94 kW. This duty is provided by one packaged plant unit. We have included for the supply and installation of DX R744 15kw evaporator manufactured by Guntner.
We installed a roof void mounted control panel to serve the freezer store evaporator, which came with the following:
An additional channel was installed in the control panel for a leak detection system – detection within the evaporator and at the valve station.
Working in a live environment, we were able to work with our client to ensure minimal disruption during the installation and commissioning of the freezer.
