The purpose of the role is to…

As a Technical Design Engineer, you will be supporting Space Engineering Services by assisting the Manufacturing Team in producing high quality complete design packages for a variety of clients, responsible for all aspects of refrigeration plant design, including budgets and costing, and accountable for legislative compliance in your area of expertise.

• What you’ll be doing…
• Liaising with clients to understand needs and expectations.
• Requesting information from suppliers.
• Working with best practice and recognised standards.
• Working with quality management systems.
• Developing refrigeration plant specifications.
• Developing plant budgets and costing.
• Developing bill of materials.
• Conducting product selections.
• Conducting quality checks and spot check reviews.
• Checking quality documentation and traceability.
• Maintaining quality system and quotations log.
• Expanding knowledge of the basic refrigeration cycle.
• Expanding knowledge of materials.
• Expanding knowledge of thermodynamics.
• Expanding knowledge of refrigeration systems using CO2.
• Assisting engineering staff in all areas of design.
• Developing ideas for improving processes process and product development.
• Working with CAD, simulation software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Assisting to develop energy models to establish best solutions and prove efficiency.

• Able to work self-sufficiently and prioritise workload.
• Expanding and sharing knowledge in the field of heat transfer, product design and fluid dynamics.
• Sharing knowledge of refrigeration systems, heating & mechanical systems, heat exchangers, vapor compressors, and fluid flow systems.

We’d love to meet someone with…

• Good mathematics and science knowledge or background.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Good IT skills. Proficient with Microsoft applications (i.e. Word & Excel).
• Able to work in a team.
• Willingness to develop technical knowledge.
• Willingness to develop computer skills.
• Able to deal with customers.
• Studying or studied Mechanical Engineering at college level or similar.
