Durham Chilled and Frozen Distribution Centre

❄️PROJECT UPDATE❄️ from Durham where we are working with Glencar Construction on the construction of a new chilled and frozen distribution centre for a major food wholesaler.

The Space project teams have been on site since September where we are responsible for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of all encompassing refrigeration systems.

The site consists of one freezer cold room, one chilled cold room and a marshalling area.

– One of the first areas installed and tested by us was the glycol under floor heating pipe work and header
-High level containment and refrigeration services were then installed at 14m prior to the cold room build
– The new refrigeration rack systems were the largest ever built at the Space Engineering manufacturing facility. These have now been installed and are in position, along with gas coolers and desuperheaters.
– The mechanical 1st fix to plant is complete and the electrical 1st fix containment and cabling is in progress to be completed this week
– All external services goal posts and high level containment are installed with external pipe work and in position, connected to packs and under holding pressure
– Glycol pipework is connected to the pump skid and external packs.
– 50 % of the evaporators are installed in these areas along with the condensate drains
– High level cable tray for electrical services has been installed over the last couple of weeks.
– High level cabling to the cold room control panels and evaporators has commenced this week, along with first fix leak detection install

Finally, the freezer floor concrete pour is in progress this week to cure over the Christmas holidays. This will mean the floor can be trafficked in the New Year.

Our teams are looking forward to hitting the ground running with the rest of the install in the New Year.
