Space Apprenticeships – Investing in the future of UK industry

14 Oct 2026

We believe that giving talented young people the opportunity to work and learn as apprentices is an essential part of our business.

Recently, Niall Evans, Josh Rees, and Ethan Britton all completed their Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician apprenticeships. The trio joined Space Engineering Services on the same day in 2022 and have worked together for the past four years – making their achievement extra special.

Niall Evans comments: ‘Joining Space back in 2022 was a big step for me and my career, as previously I had only worked in a café. The first few months were a steep learning curve, but thanks to the amazing people I worked with (and my mentor, Dan, at the time) I was able to find my ground and continue to grow in the company.

‘Since then, I’ve had loads of opportunities for development – such as meeting suppliers, attending site visits and even starting my own projects within Space Manufacturing.’

‘Having this time dedicated to work on my own improvement has greatly benefitted me in completing my apprenticeship, and I hope to continue my journey within the company after the completion of my Level 5 in 2027!’

Joshua Rees: ‘I started here working alongside an experienced engineer gaining crucial practical and theoretical knowledge of different skills involved within my engineering role.

‘As my confidence and skills developed, I then progressed onto other departments in the warehouse eventually putting all my skills together by brazing pipework of a refrigeration pack on my own.

‘When required, due to my full understanding of the workload, I’ve also been capable of training several new employees. Moving forward I am now fully qualified and am continuing to seek new learning.’

Ethan Britton: ‘I have learnt so much and developed some key skills during my apprenticeship, thank you to everyone in the office and workshop that has given me guidance during the process. It has been an invaluable experience, and I will always encourage anyone looking for guidance to take the same route as me.

‘I can’t believe how quick four years have gone by and that is due to working with some great people. I am already progressing onto the next steps of my education by undertaking a HND at Bath College where I look forward to building upon what I have already learnt during my apprenticeship. It has also been great to go through the process alongside Niall and Josh where we have made some memories for life.’

‘A big thank you to Tracey Oldham because she has been key in supporting us all along the way and ensuring we achieve our best!’

Congratulations to Niall, Josh and Ethan for their efforts over the last four years.

We are also pleased to announce that we have four new apprentices that have joined us recently:

  • Owen Fey – Manufacturing Apprentice
